Technical brief on the integration of menstrual health into sexual and reproductive health and rights policies and programmes
The technical brief underscores menstrual health's importance within sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), often overlooked in the past. It advocates for holistic, integrated, rights-based approaches to address menstrual health. Divided into two parts, the brief offers guidance on integrating menstrual health into SRHR policies and programs at global, regional, and national levels. Part 1 presents the evidence-based rationale, while Part 2 provides technical guidance. Focused on low- and middle-income countries, particularly in East and Southern Africa, it adopts a life cycle approach, considering menstrual health needs from pre-menarche to post-menopause.
