This brief reviews existing resources and analyses potential bottlenecks for the processes in applying for EMTCT/Path to Elimination and to strengthen ongoing PMTCT programmes in such applications. Eight UNICEF priority countries were selected for the review: Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Assessment of the impact of social allowances on the quality of life of CLHIV in Tajikistan rlekirkegaard Wed, 10/25/2023 - 16:01

This report presents the results of a study commissioned by UNICEF Tajikistan in collaboration with the Republican AIDS Centre and the NGO Guli Surkh to evaluate the impact of social allowances on the treatment outcomes of children living with HIV in Tajikistan. Of the 7,552 persons living with HIV in Tajikistan today, 10.2 per cent are children under the age of 18. As of December 2017, 90.5 per cent of these children were covered with antiretroviral therapy.

The key goal of this report was to conduct an impartial analysis of information about the demographic and epidemiological HIV-related situation among adolescents, including key adolescent populations and the respective cross-sectoral programmes for adolescents, in order to strengthen the adolescent component of the national HIV response programme.

This is a curriculum and guide for training government officials on observing human rights and countering stigma and discrimination against gay men, other men who have sex with men and transgender people. It is intended for trainers and training groups that plan to work with healthcare workers, civil servants, and law enforcement agencies. The training guide is available in Russian and English. The ECOM website also offers slide presentations for the training (in English).

A brief describing the approach and outcomes of a study to understand the risk and vulnerabilities of adolescent girls and young women and young self-identified sex workers aged 14-24. The goal was to inform the strategic design and expansion of HIV prevention programmes in Ukraine. The study used geographic mapping, a behavioural and biological survey, key informant interview and mathematical modelling.
